چکیده

In this study, we used RADARSAT interferometrically derived images to monitor current post slide motion at the Frank Slide, a 30x 10m rock avalanche, in the Canadian Rockies. The images cover the period from September 2000 to April 2004. Our results show that the Frank slide is still active and the deformation process is localized and related to seasonal and local weather conditions. This information is useful in assisting to locate in-situ field monitoring at specific locations, and to plan mitigation strategies. The combination of satellite differential InSAR techniques, covering large areas, and site-specific GPS monitors can produce an integrated monitoring system of active slopes.

InSAR Monitoring of High Risk Geohazard Areas using RADARSAT

In this paper, we report on the results of InSAR monitoring of several high-risk GeohazardsLandslides, Earthquakes and Volcanoesareas using RADARSAT 1&2 images. InSAR techniques are increasingly being used for geohazard assessment. Our research has shown that differential InSAR and coherent target monitoring techniques with installed corner reflectors are used to monitor landslide activity alon...

Geological and Geohazard Applications of Radarsat-2

In this paper, we will present the results of several case studies focusing on RADARSAT-2 InSAR monitoring of several different types of landslides and the uses of enhanced RADARSAT-2 polarimetric composites for surficial geological and terrain mapping in Canada. InSAR techniques are increasingly being used in slope stability assessment [1, 2 3]. Our research has shown that both differential In...

Integrated Sar Technologies for Monitoring the Stability of Mine Sites: Application Using Terrasar-x and Radarsat-2 Images

The last three decades have seen significant mining development in the northern regions of Canada, where the freeze and thaw cycle of permafrost and corresponding surface subsidence and heave represent a significant challenge at all mining stages, from the design of infrastructures to the monitoring of restored areas. Over the past ten years, SAR interferometry has been widely used to monitor g...

High Temporal Resolution Permafrost Monitoring Using a Multiple Stack Insar Technique

The combined effect of climate change and accelerated economic development in Northern regions increases the threat of permafrost related surface deformation to buildings and transportation infrastructure. Satellite based InSAR provides a means for monitoring infrastructure that may be both remote and spatially extensive. However, permafrost poses challenges for InSAR monitoring due to the comp...
